I'm Pat Mabbott and I'm one of three Borough Councillors for Sherrards Ward. You may remember my surname as my husband Terry was Councillor for the same Ward until 2006.
Originally from North London we have lived in Welwyn Garden City for 16 years. I was elected as Councillor in May 2008 and am now very busy carrying out the work of a Councillor. I also work as PA to the Director of Adult Care Services in Hertfordshire County Council and I feel that working in this area will help me understand some issues that may come my way in the council work.
I am a member of the Enviroinment and Overview Scrutiny Committee I am also on the Board of Governors for Homeswood School and am very much enjoying the particpation in school activities that this role involves. I want to become known to as many residents of Sherrards Ward as possible and feel being involved in a school within the Ward will enable to meet people who live in the area.
I have been contacted by some Sherrards residents about various difficulties or problems they have encountered and am willing to do whatever is within my power to help resolve any matters within the Ward that you feel I can assist with. 'Meet Your Councillor' (MYC) surgeries are held in Campus West by the three Sherrards Councillors in turn on a monthly basis on Saturday mornings at 10.00 a.m.
I can be contacted via email, telephone or letter and if you wish to meet with me to discuss any issues you feel I may be able to assist with I am happy to arrange this. My email address is patricia.mabbott@welhat.gov.uk.
MY LATEST NEWS
On the Beat
I recently went "on the beat" with the Sherrards Ward Community Police Officer Ben ......and PCSO Andrea ...... I was very impressed with the way they both interacted with the local community particularly the young people. The children and teenagers all knew Ben and Andrea who were both friendly and approachable but also authorative when the need arose. I spent a very interesting couple of hours Walking the Ward and came away feeling that the district would greatly benefit from the work being done by these two officers.
MPACT
Residents of Brookmans Park and Handside area will have seen large groups of blue rosette wearing Councillors out and about on a rainy Saturday morning in Brookmans Park and a sunny Saturday morning in Handside and Peartree. Lead by our jogging local MP, Grant Shapps, we spent time knocking on doors, introducing ourselves and talking about any issues or problems residents wished to discuss. These sessions are very informative and enjoyable and give Councillors and residents alike a chance to get to know each other.
Look out for us in your area in the near future - this is a chance to have your say on your own doorstep and we will be very happy to listen and assist where we can.
