Hi
Welcome to my homepage.
I have the privilege of representing the people of Oakland’s, Mardley Heath & Woolmer Green as well as Digswell since May. There have been many changes over this period - some good, improvements on Mardley Heath and road calming on the B197. Some bad - like the closure of the village shop in Woolmer Green along with the butchers and the Post Office.
The message is use it or lose it. I would strongly recommend your local services. I know that both Digswell and Oakland butchers shops offer a good friendly local service that is surprisingly not that expensive when compared to the supermarkets.
Also Post Offices more than ever need our usage and support. I feel that they offer more than just the postal service.
Two Parish Council's cover our area with Welwyn covering Oaklands, Mardley Heath and Digswell and Woolmer Green having their own parish to represent them and give an additional voice. Being the northern outpost on a council with two towns can be a challenge as it could be very easy for our needs to get amongst the very real needs of the towns.
I feel very strongly that the environment we live in is very important; this includes everything from the right mix of shops and schools to the litter being cleared regularly. I am a fan of recycling and try to make sure that it is as easy possible. It is also worth noting that recycling also saves us money as the holes in the ground are very expensive and we pay for them not just enviromentally but financially as well.
The shopping parade at Oakland’s is wonderful and we are very lucky that we have a good spread of shops. This includes the Butchers, General Store, Florist, Hairdresser, Fish & Chip shop and importantly a Post Office. I warmly recommend these shops and issue a plea for them to continue to be well used and supported.
I am a Governor of Oakland’s School which gives me a good feel for what the issues facing schools and youngsters are.
I am on the Planning and Environment committee's as well as the Licensing panel and the Joint Highways Working Panel.
Please feel free to contact me on 01438 714752 or 07780 692307 if you have any issues or idea's that could help improve our environment.
