I love living in Welwyn and hope to be able to give something back to the community and make a demonstrable difference as a Councillor. I am committed to ensuring that our area is a great place to live and take all issues of residents seriously.
I am a Borough Health Champion and member of the cross-party Health Working Group pushing hard to improve health services in the area and in particular maternity services. This is an issue close to my heart given that our first child Jake was stillborn due to the nearest maternity unit being closed when we needed it most.
I have launched a charity in Jake's memory, the National Maternity Support Foundation (NMSF), to make the necessary changes to help others and keep our maternity services working effectively. I am also a member of the local Maternity Services Liason Committee (MSLC) which oversees maternity services in the area.
Happily we celebrated the birth of our daughter Ruby who was born at the QE2 hospital on 27th April 2007 and we are expecting another little one in September 2008.
I am a member of the Social Overview and Scrutiny Committee and also represent the Borough at County level as a member of the Health Scrutiny Committee. I am a member of the East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust's Involvement Committee to improve health services in the area. Most recently I have been elected to represent the Borough on the Strategic Health Partnership, part of the Welwyn Hatfield Alliance.
If you have any matters relating to health or any other issues, then please contact me through my website.
I look forward to hearing from you and meeting in due course.
