Refuse collections will take place as usual on Good Friday 21st March 2008, however please note there will be no collections on Easter Monday 24th March 2008. Please see article for the changed bank holiday refuse & recycling collection times

From Monday, 3 March until Saturday, 5 April, libraries will wipe the slate clean if late books, CDs and DVDs are returned or renewed at a branch. The amnesty ends on 6 April at Smethwick Library, which opens on Sundays.

Anyone who is registered and eligible to vote can apply to vote by post.

14/10/2007 -  Distraction Burglars! 
Please be aware that there have been reports that there is a gang of distraction burglars operating in our area.

Are you fed up with the loads of junk mail that you're getting through your letterbox? Then register with the Mailing Preference Service (MPS) and the Royal Mail to stop unwanted mail.

A piece of Council owned land that local residents were complaining about because it was overgrown and unsightly has been sorted to removed the grot spot eyesore!

Sandwell residents are set to keep weekly household rubbish collections under a proposed transformation of the council's waste, grounds maintenance and street cleansing services.


The petition signed by local residents who are objecting to the excessive parking restrictions around the shops at the junction of Perry Hill Road and Castle Road West was presented to the Oldbury Town Committee. After this hard fought campaign, the parking restrictions have been removed though the situation will be reviewed next year!

2/3/2007 -  Anti Social Behaviour!  
Anti-social behaviour causes a great deal of misery and anxiety for those decent residents who have to suffer because of the bad behaviour of mindless, selfish individuals. If you are a victim affected by this sort of behaviour then professional advice and help is available.

This exciting new initiative set up by Sandwell's Labour Council, was announced at the Oldbury Town Committee Meeting held on Tuesday16th January, for vulnerable homeowners and vulnerable residents in private rented accommodation.

11/2/2007 -  The Problem of Dog Mess! 
There is an increasing problem of dog fouling on our pavements and the problem needs to be addressed!

The popular green wheeled bin garden waste collection service offered to some residents by Sandwells Labour Council, is to be expanded to include all suitable homes in Old Warley by April this year

It is planned to continue green waste collections during the winter period although the green waste will need to be put into plastic bags
