Thank you for visiting my website. I have had the pleasure of being one of Friar Park, Mesty Croft, Park Hill, Newtown and Woods Estate councillors for three and a half years. My fellow councillors are Joy Edis and Geoff Lewis.
I have been Vice Chair of the Wednesbury Town Committee during this time. In addition to this I was Chair of the Select Committee on Electoral Participation which produced a number of recommendation in January on ways to increase the number of people who vote and also register to vote.
Until January of this year I worked as Constituency Officer for West Bromwich East Member of Parliament Tom Watson and prior to that was Manager of West Bromwich Citizens Advice Bureau for 7 years. In April of this year I am due to begin a new post of Policy Officer for Regional Action West Midlands.
From May of last year I have a new role as Cabinet Advisor for Housing. In this role I will Chair the new Sandwell Strategic Housing Forum. The Executive of this Forum is currently producing the Sandwell Housing Stategy for 2008 to 2011.
Manor School to be rebuilt
On Thursday 10th April a public meeting is taking place at Manor High School in Friar Park Road to discuss the rebuilding of the school using Government money from the Buiding Schools for the Future programme. This will completely transform the look and feel of the school and so I would urge all residents in the area to get to the meeting which starts at 6.00pm.
Street Games
I am delighted that a pilot scheme organised through Street Games (a national body which seeks to provide sport on estates) as started. The pilot scheme began in January and will finish in August/September when it is hoped more long term funding will be found. A number of sporting activities are to be part of the scheme.
