Great News for Bearwood Community Projects
The Friends of Thimblemill Brook and Warley Woods are both set to benefit from new funds from Smethwick Town Committee.
The Friends of Thimblemill Brook will get £3,214 to support the group and help them to take forward their programme that supports improvements to the environment of the brook.
Warley Woods Community Trust will receive £4,271. This will provide for new facilities for young people too old for the children’s playground and for some wood carvings involving young people. The project follows a commitment given to young people by the Trust to do more to involve them.
Both projects are great news for the Bearwood area, clearly demonstrating a commitment to improving the local environment and engaging positively with the community.

Anything for the Notice Board?
Just a reminder that our public notice board on Bearwood Road (by Argos) is available to announce community events as well as public notices.
If as a local group you are holding an event and have produced notices to publicise it, we would be happy to display one for you. Please contact one of the three ward councillors to make arrangements for display.

Christmas Recycling
Residents who want to dispose of their real Christmas trees this year should break up them up and leave them in the recycling bin ready for when the collections restart in February, although you should ensure the lid is still able to close and the bin is not overfilled.
For an earlier collection, or if you do not have a garden waste bin, you can arrange for your tree to be collected for recycling by calling Contact Sandwell on 0845 359 7501 and the tree can be collected in the week following your call.
Argos opening date announced
The new Argos store on Bearwood Road is to open on Saturday 19th January.
I’m sure everyone will want to join with me to welcome Argos to Bearwood, a valuable new development in a large shop. This is the sort of new quality retail outlet that Bearwood needs for a prosperous future.
