As deputy leader may job is to oversee the performance of the Council as a whole and where parts of the Council are not performing as well as others I try to establish why and try to ensure that changes are put in place that will improve matters.
Sandwell Council has just gone through two major inspections and although we still have a way to go our capacity to improve is regarded as good, which means we have things in place for improvement to happen.
We now have a Contact Centre which is well used, and linked to that we have an Anti Social Behaviour Line which can be contacted 8am-8pm (0845 3597500) out of these hours a machine will take messages. The Council now works closely with the police in order to try to stop A.S.B happening.
The One Stop Shop at Oldbury Council House does now have direct access for the general public to a lot of services the Council and Sandwell Homes provides.
