I have served as an elected member for nearly four years, and a Pickering Town Councillor for seven. I am a single mother of five, now adult children and seven grandchildren.
My work very much reflects the needs of young people, from serving on the Youth Offending Panel to arranging activites for disengaged young people.
Passionate about the future wellbeing of our area, my work at Ryedale involves serving on the executive of the Local Government Association SPARSE group, Rural Governence and the Rural Commision.
I recently completed a Scrutiny Skills Review for the Yorkshire and Humber Assembly, and represent Ryedale on the Yorkshire Coast College, CAB,RVA.
I am a member of Ryedale's Young People Strategy Group, Overview & Scutiny and Planning.
Along with many activites in Pickering, I pioneered a Taxi Voucher Scheme for elderly and disabled residents, and was recently honoured by the Queen with an MBE.
My main skills are in Scrutiny and Human Resources; I also worked for several years in the child protection field both in a voluntary and officail capacity.
I am very honoured that a councilllor from Pickering is the Vice Chair of Ryedale, and I will do my best to get around the whole district to meet as many of you as possible, during the
next two years.
I am the Ryedale representative on the Local Government Association SPARSE Group.
I am also a Policy Adviser to the Rural Commission which is also part of the LGA.
