I was born in Biggleswade and moved to Northampton during my childhood. I attended The Convent of Notre Dame there. My father had a motorcycle business and I was Company Secretary. On their retirement, I became a WRVS Services Welfare Organiser and served in Germany and Bahrain, where I met my husband who was an RAF Officer. I have one son. On being posted back to the UK we moved extensively up/down the East Coast.
My parents lived in Alwalton and upon the death of my father I became my mother's carer and we moved back to Peterborough in 1988. On her death I became active in local politics. I am a member of North West Cambridgeshire Conservative Association.
In June 2004 I was elected to be a Member of Peterborough City Council until 2008 and I represent the Orton Longueville Ward. I am also an Orton Longueville Parish Councillor.
The following are the Council Committees on which I serve:
- Community Well-Being Policy Overview Committee (Chairman)
- Adult Services Policy Overview Committee
- Planning & Environmental Protection Committee
- Licensing Act 2003 Committee
- Licensing Committee
I am also currently appointed to the following Outside Body:
- East of England Tourist Board
My other commitments are:
- Herlington Community Association Committee
- Horseshoe Residents Association (Orton Goldhay)
- Orton Community Contact Centre Committee
- Orton Youth & Community Executive
My concerns are for anti-social behaviour and harassment, hence I have a close working relationship with the local police contingent in their Impact in Orton project. I have even planted bulbs and been on litterpicks!
If you require any help or assistance on a Council matter and believe I can help, please do not hesitate to email me or telephone me on (01733) 236119.
