The Local Electoral Division of Dogsthorpe Ward includes:-

  • Old Dogsthorpe
  • Welland
  • Burford Lawns (Sherborne Road area)
  • Parts of Eastfield, Newark and Bluebell.

There are various local facilities within the Dogsthorpe Ward including:-

Dogsthorpe Library

This is a marvellous Local Library along Central Avenue Shopping Parade.  It is a wonderful souce of local knowledge and as well as books you can also take out videos, DVDs, CD's and reading books.  There are also computers for Internet use.  For more information click on the link above. 

Woodfield Park

Thanks to funding from Shanks First, The Millennium Commission, the Countryside Agency and Bass, with support from the City Council, this area has recently been transformed from a traditional park into a more natural environment in the heart of the City.  Features of the new park include:-

  • a circular path and cycling / skating paths
  • extensive planting with native shrubs and trees
  • a community mosaic, constructed by local residents
  • extended CCTV coverage to improve safety
  • extensive teenager activity area.

It is well worth visiting and a real asset in the heart of Dogsthorpe and Welland.

Community Contact Centre

Nestling within the Welland part of the local Dogsthorpe community at 56 Hallaton Road is Partnership House - a one-stop-shop for advice and support in the Welland and Dogsthorpe area.  The staff there provide an invaluble source of help / advice on a wide range of issues including:-

  • Welfare Benefits
  • Next step advice on Learning and Work
  • Debt
  • Sofa Forms
  • Hate Crime Reporting
  • Job Search

Other services include:-

  • Regular sessions run by the Citizens Advice Bureau
  • Free computer classes for those terrified of computers.  These take place on Thursdays between 11.00 and 12.30pm and Fridays between 12.00 and 2.00pm. 
  • A free of charge Community Noticeboard.
