Welcome to my website

I was first elected to be a Member of Peterborough City Council in 1980 as Councillor for the Dogsthorpe Ward and from this time you have continued to re-elect me in that role.

I intend to use this Website to keep you informed about my elected responsibilities, my local activities and give you the chance to know me as an individual and not as a political animal.  You will see that to the left, there is some information with specific regard to Dogsthorpe, together with some useful local information.  Under the "My Politics" section I have included a link to the Liberal Party of which I am a longstanding Member.

So a few facts about me:-

  • I was born (1954) and raised in Dogsthorpe, and attended Dogsthorpe Infants School before transferring to Newark Hill School.  My next stop was the Lincoln Road, Secondary Modern School
  • I left School at 16 and became an apprentice Carpenter / Joiner for a local Peterborough, family, building firm and worked for this company for 33 years  before having a complete career change where I joined MENCAP in Stamford, as a Support Worker. This remains my current place of employment.
  • I live with my partner, in Dogsthorpe, in the same street I was born, namely Beechwood Close.
  • I am a Member of the Minorities Party Group.  This Group comprises of two Independent Labouring for North Ward Councillors and three Liberal Party Councillors.  We do not operate a Party Whip System and vote according to our own conscience.  I firmly believe that party politics should take a back seat in Local Government and ALL elected representatives should endeavour to work together for the common good of the local community.

My Council commmitments are:-

  • Member of the Peterborough Standards Board
  • Member of the Employment Panel.
  • Council Rep on P'Boro Racial Equality Council (PREC)

My local commitments are:

  • Trustee (non active) of the Woodfield Park Millenium Green.
  • Trustee (non managing) of the Dogsthorpe Community Centre.
  • Editorial Member of the Local Liberal Focus Newsletter.
  • Member of the Greater Dogsthorpe Partnership (GDP).
  • Member of the Eastern Area Panel (Cross Keys Homes)
  • Member of the Dogsthorpe and Welland Development Group - which is now a sub-group of the GDP.
  • I can be contacted either by email, phone / fax (01733) 346728, or at the address below:-

20 Beechwood Close, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, PE1 4PN.

Alternatively messages can be left with the Members Services Unit at the Council on (01733) 452327.

Dogsthorpe Councillors also hold surgeries every Saturday Morning at the Dogsthorpe Community Centre, Poplar Avenue, between 10am and 11.30am (attended every three weeks by the local Police Community Support Officers) For more detailed information concerning our local Police Officers please click the link above.
