Anne Marie Fitzgerald biography
Anne Marie was co-opted onto Omagh District council 2007 following the death of her father, the late Michael, who was a councillor since 1989. She represents the Carrickmore and Creggan areas on the ODC.
Anne Marie has a great interest in Childcare Provision, Rural Development, Health and Education issues and leads from the front. She is also an active member of the Frank Ward Sinn Féin cumann Carrickmore / Creggan.
Since her co-option to the council in 2007 Anne Marie has impacted hugely on many issues. Most notably she successfully challenged Omagh district councils over their standing order, which deemed the chairperson must be addressed as chairman, even if a woman fulfilled that role.
