Welcome to my personal councillor website. I am serving for a third term as an Ulster Unionist Councillor for Abbey Ward.
My major achievements in that time has been playing a major role in securing the new build for Clifton Special School in Bangor. I have been honoured to be both Deputy Mayor and Mayor of North Down.
In my very successful year as Mayor I raised £30k for three local charities Marie Curie, North Down Special Olympics Team and the Northern Ireland Sea Cadets. This amount surpasses the amount raised by any other Mayor to date.
I have been singing in Bangor Ladies Choir for over thirty years and am passionate about choral singing. I started Bangor International Choral Festival fifteen years ago. The entries in the 2008 competition exceeded all expectations with over 2000 school children singing competitively over four days. Adult choirs travelled from England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and the Ukraine. The festival is now recognised as one of the best choral festivals in the United Kindgom bringing hundreds of bed nights to the borough. The festival would not be the success it is without the hard work, enthusiasm and support of Bangor Ladies Choir.
I served in the Territorial Army and am proud to be a member of the Royal Military Police Association (NI). I am very supportive of all our Ex-Services organisations and am particularly interested in the work of the Army Benevolent Fund. I have organised numerous charity concerts which mostly involve Bangor Ladies Choir singing with the Band of the Irish Guards, The Royal Irish Regiment, The Territorial Army Staff Band, Her Majesty's Band of the Royal Marines. The Central Band of the Royal Air Force, the Band and Male Vocie Choir of the Prince of Wales Division and the Band of the Light Division.
