Councillor Anne Wilson

Wind

I was elected as an Alliance Party councillor for Bangor West - part of North Down Borough Council.

In the past year I have worked on a number of issues in Bangor West including heading the campaign to save our only green space at Ballykillaire Sportsplex and successfully rescinded the motion originally agreed by council to sell off this very important conservation area. I also, after many years of campaigning, succeeded in winning the councils support for a children’s playground at the Sportsplex.

After listening to the many concerns of residents in the Rathmore area the Roads Service agreed to my request to install speed bumps on the Rathmore Road. The Rathmore Road is a very busy road with two churches, a school and a shopping centre and is used as a bus route for local buses and Belfast services.

Townhall

I am constantly opposing planning applications for demolition of perfectly good housing all over North Down and do my best to retain the townscape character, maintain the greenbelt and preserve our built heritage. I also deal with other smaller planning issues such as retention of the character of Brunswick Road by having a dental sign turned down by the planners.

I am very interested in green issues and proposed the building of a wind turbine in Bangor.

NEW WIND TURBINE AT BALLOO
As an advocate of renewable energies I proposed in council the acquisition of a wind turbine for North Down. I am absolutely delighted that a wind turbine has now been built at Balloo beside our new recycling centre and transfer station.
