The website of Councillor Robert Hill

Welcome to my personal councillor website.

I am the Democratic Unionist Party elected member for the Newtownabbey electoral ward of University which covers the areas of Craiglands, New Mossley, Mossley, Lakeview, Ballyduff, Monkstown, Oaklands, Brambles, Jordanstown, Genville and everything in between.

Newtownabbey was formed in 1958 and is now celebrating it's 50th Anniversary year. The Borough has over 80,000 residents with 25 elected councillors to represent them.

The political make-up of the council is currently:

12 DUP, 6 UUP, 3 Alliance, 1 SDLP, 1 SF and 2 independants.

I have been a member of council since 2005. As well as sitting on all main committees (Liesure, Environment, Planning and Consultation, Policy and Governance and Development) I am also a member of the following: Local Strategy Partnership, Community Safety Partnership, Youth Council Management Board, Home Accident Prevention, International Linkages, Good Relations Partnership and many other associated sub-committees.

This website has been provided to help me in my work as a councillor – to help me communicate with all residents of Newtownabbey Borough Council, regardless of their political persuasion. It has been provided to help improve the quality of communication between councillors and the people that they represent.

There is a ‘My Politics’ link in the toolbar on the left-hand side of this website with links to political sites that I think are of interest.

There is also a link at the top of the page to Newtownabbey Borough Council's website which is regularly updated with events and contact details for each department. Please check it out as there are a lot of events to celebrate the council's 50th anniversary year ie: garden parties, drive in movies and bus tours of the borough, ice rink and sporting events to name just a few.

I hope that you will feel free to use the ‘Contact Me’ button in the toolbar on the left of this site to let me know your views on any important upcoming business that the council is involved in. I’d also be interested to hear how you’d like me to use this website – and other internet tools to improve the way that important local issues are communicated to you.

best wishes,

Councillor Robert Hill .
