Community Ventures (Middlesbrough) Ltd (CVL)
CVL is a community owned social enterprise, with a membership that is derived from Thorntree and other communities across the area, and has six wholy owned subsidiary trading companies. CVL is owned by its members.
Established in 1989 in Thorntree to help address many of the community safety issues in the area, as well as to offer employment to local people, CVL is a Registered Charity and a flagship in the UK's Social Enterprise Sector.
CVL and its trading companies contribute to the lifeblood of Thorntree and Middlesbrough by working in partnership with Middllesbrough Borough Council to support and develop the Credit Unions across the town, providing an on- line computer suite for the use of residents free of charge, and installing and monitoring security systems free of charge.
CVL also provides business development advice to a range of organisations, large and small, including charities, community groups,voluntary groups and similar organisations.
CVL is one of the the UK's leading social enterprises and an organisation that Thorntree can be proud of.
