Lewes District Council, Lewes Priory Ward
Councillor Ann De Vecchi

Ward issues

I am one of the three councillors who represent Priory Ward on Lewes District Council. Priory Ward comprises the area west of Station St and south of the High St, Western Rd and Brighton Rd, the Winterbourne area, Southover, the Neville estate and the De Monfort estate including Bradford Rd, Valence Rd, Leicester Rd.

Parking:

Although on-street parking is the responsibility of East Sussex County Council and off-street car parks are the responsibility of the District Council, the two authorities now work together to deliver a service which is contracted out to NCP.

The County Council has now launched the promised six month review of the new parking scheme and I hope you will take the opportunity to express your views to them. I have a place on the Joint Parking Board as a representative of Lewes District Council and I would be very pleased to have your feedback to help discussion when the Board meets. You can do this either by writing to me at Lewes District Council or by e-mail to ann.devecchi@lewes.gov.uk.

Rail Replacement Buses

I have received a number of complaints about the routes that the rail replacement bus services take in the Southover area, including the use of Garden St.

A letter has been sent to the rail operators asking them to instruct the bus drivers to use the Station St, High St, Brighton Rd  route and not narrow residential streets in the historic core.

There is an ongoing issue with the rail operator about the weight limit on the bridge outside the Station, which is not resolved.
