County Councillor William Cropper assists Holmeswood Bowling Club to receive £1000 for a new handrail and Holmeswood Tennis Club to receive £2000 for resurfacing the court.

West Lancs Borough Council set to approve additional £65,000 capital investment in addition to the £140,000 improvements currently taking place.Grand Opening by the mayor and Mayoress of West Lancs on July 18th,2010.

West Lancs Borough Council and Lancashire County Council jointly fund the £83,800 scheme aimed at 8-13 year olds.Completed July 1st, 2010

this wide-ranging help service open to everyone over 18 years of age will be on hand every Thursday 3-5pm at Scarisbrick Village Hall, commencing 15th July.

7/7/2010 -  Bullens Lane, Scarisbrick 
After nearly 2 years I have finally got LCC to level the surface. I can assure you it is not for the want of trying! The levelling and filling in of potholes has now been done, with a final "surface treatment" to be done in August. I must stress this does not mean a metalled surface or a drainage scheme.

Residents benefit from this new crossing between Red Cat Lane and Warper's Moss Lane. Work completed.

LANCASHIRE County Council's Carers' Team are inviting representatives from the county's voluntary, community and faith sector groups to an information workshop where they will find out about how they can apply for small grants of up to £15,000

A new Pedestrian Crossing and Bus Stop on "Tesco Road" and new footpath on Station Approach, involving removal of the stone wall at the Grove entrance.

Cllr. William Cropper retains his seat on West Lancs Borough Council in a convincing win over Labour Candidate Susan Jones.

Cllr. William Cropper invited to join in the Centenary celebrations of Guiding, and shown the new Washroom facilities provided by "West Lancs District Council Chairman's Charity", which raised £12,700 for this purpose during his year of office.

Cllr. Cropper said " I am delighted to have been been invited ,along with my wife, to join this group. I hope to be able to help the Scouts move forward, particularly in their efforts to build their new HQ in Lathom".

2/6/2010 -  The "Burscough Buzz" 
Following completion of the Town Centre "uplift", which won two national awards, comes great news of the Burscough Wharf development.

The only school in Lancashire to have won this award, and has been selected to go forward for the UK Rolls Royce Science Prize.

County Cllr. Cropper gets £450 for Hillock and Lady Anne Close Bowling Club for equipment, £500 for seating at the Grove Youth and Community Centre in Burscough, and £300 for Rufford Scouts for kit.

Serving on both the Human Resources Committee and the Professional Standards and Citizen Focus Committee, with a designated Special Interest in "Community Engagement".


West Lancs Borough Council declares zero rise, following a zero rise at LCC, 1.8% for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and 2.95% at Lancashire Police.

A number of schemes that will have most impact on road safety were approved at the Lancashire Local Meeting on Jan.20th, 2010

25/10/2009 -  New 20mph. Zone in Burscough 
Covers School Lane from the A59 to the vicinity of Haydock Farm and Colbourne Close. This is one of the first 20 mph zones in Lancashire.There has been much consultation with residents and the Parish Council on this with public approval. I was pleased to support it.

Considerable investment continues and flooding of sewage in New Lane and other places have been reduced. But there are still problems and meetings with UU are continuing.

Remedial works, prompted by accident records over the past 5 years,have been carried out in 2008/9 from the Beaufort Hotel to the Morris Dancers (Burscough and Scarisbrick).

ORMSKIRK will be the first of 150 stations across England and Wales to benefit from a multi-million pound scheme to modernise the station, make it safer and more comfortable for the thousands of passengers using it each year.

BLUEPRINTS for a new development of 111- self-contained one and two bedroom flats for older people in Ormskirk have been submitted to planning bosses.

Children,young people, families and friends attended the re-launch of The Grove Youth and Community Centre in Burscough, together with the opening of the new Children’s Centre, on Saturday 4 Oct. 2008. Costing £330,000 it is great news for Burscough!

LANCASHIRE County Council has appointed Age Concern Lancashire to develop and provide the new locally-based Help Direct Gateway community support service in West Lancashire.

C. Cllr.Cropper said "I am delighted to have been appointed an LEA Governor of the main secondary provider in my division.As Chairman of West Lancs District Council I attended the Awards Ceremony last year and was impressed with the results being achieved".

A NEW bus map and guide for the West Lancashire area has been produced by Lancashire County Council.
