Within the County Council's Environment Directorate the Development Control Group are responsible for dealing with planning applications for mining, quarrying and waste management sites, and also for all County Council developments such as schools, libraries and highways.
Planning applications ultimately come before the Development Control Committee for determination and you can access copies of the Committee’s agenda and minutes and watch webcasts of the meetings from the county council’s website.
Please note that the county council does not deal with planning applications for extensions to houses – these are dealt with by the appropriate District Council.
Developments which are the subject of planning applications can be controversial and residents want to make representations either to me or other County Councillors in support of, or usually opposing such proposals. You can find out more about planning applications in your area by visiting the Environment Directorate section of the County Council's website which is updated daily.
