About me

Lancaster has been my home for the last four years. I currently live in the Lancaster East division, on Kentmere Road, which runs between the Ridge estate and the Freehold area. I previously lived in nearby Dry Dock, and have also lived on the Marsh in Lancaster. Before moving to this area I was based on the East coast of Scotland, in Dundee and Fife. I've also lived in North and West Yorkshire, Dublin, the Potteries, the West Midlands and North Buckinghamshire – but Lancashire is best!

Besides being a councillor I work part-time as the Co-ordinator of the Centre for North-West Regional Studies, which is based at Lancaster University. I have a strong background in adult education, especially organising open-access courses, and sometimes teaching them, in the areas of history, archaeology and ecology. The North-West of England is a fascinating area which has a vibrant history going back over 2,000 years, and I'm delighted to be able to do my bit to allow the people who live here to access their heritage.

My immediate family comprises a husband, a teenage son and a very bouncy cat. My husband volunteers at Diversity FM, which is a community radio station serving the Lancaster and Morecambe area. You can find a link to its website on the 'My Politics' page.
