I was born in North Wales but I've lived and worked in Thornton Cleveleys from the age of two. I was raised by my mum, Joy, who sadly passed away fairly recently, and went to local schools, Norbreck and Arnold. From school I went to work at Lewis' in Blackpool, before studying for a degree in Social Studies at Preston Poly.
I'm married to Wayne and we have six children and five grandchildren between us (so far!). We met through the Labour Party, so we have lots in common! Our children have all gone to local schools. We still have three at home and two of them go to Millfield Science and Performing Arts College
Prior to my election to Lancs CC I worked in a local bank which fitted in well with raising the family, but now I'm lucky enough to have the chance to do something I really love, that is being a full-time councillor (and believe me there aren't enough hours in the day if the job is to be done properly!) So, you have a committed full-time representative at County Hall.
Thornton Cleveleys is my home too, and I have a good grasp of the issues which affect us. But if you think there are any issues which need raising...let me know.
Outside politics....most of our time is spent with the family! Apart from that, I love my dog, gardening, music (especially Bob Marley and U2) and travelling. We all have a particular passion for the Dominican Republic - one of the most beautiful parts of the world, although also one of the poorest, where we have made many good friends.
