Through the Revitalising Town Centres project residents and businesses views are sought on what you think could bring customers into Chorley to boost the local economy.
County Councillor Michael Green, Cabinet Member for Economic Development said: "Town centres should be a hub of a community but unfortunately many suffer nowadays because of many issues, including the increase of outside retail parks.
Chorley like many of our town centres can actually offer great customer service and products that you might not be able to buy elsewhere.
The Revitalising Town Centres project is really important as it allows us to talk to local people about the issues affecting their town so that we can understand better and then hopefully do something positive to help."
The project, currently being run in Lytham, St. Annes, Clitheroe and now Chorley will provide the opportunity to voice your opinion on how your town centre could be improved.
County Councillor Green added: "Ideas shared so far range from the provision of a home delivery service enabling businesses to share the operating costs of a vehicle to deliver goods to customers, to a virtual, online town centre featuring local businesses which will develop the e-commerce capacity of small retailers and other town centre businesses to new or renewed events and attractions designed to increase the number of visitors to our town centres."
The consultation process for this project is ongoing and you can express your views by visiting www.Facebook.com searching for Chorley Town Centre Champions, or www.Twitter.com your opinions to ChorleyChamps. Postcards enabling you to write down your ideas will also be available at Chorley library.
A launch to begin the consultation phase with local people and businesses will be held on Thursday, 29th July at Chorley Library. The main presentation and opportunity to discuss your ideas face to face with officers will take place from 4:00pm – 6:30pm.
This is the time to have your say as the feedback we receive during this consultation will influence the decisions that are taken and ideas that are developed working in partnership with local business forums and chambers of trade.
