I have been elected as a County Councillor for the Electoral Division of Preston West (covering Lea, Ingol and Cottam) to serve the interests of all residents, regardless of political persuasion. I am, however, a member of the Liberal Democrats and take an active interest in a number of national and local campaigns. I am a member of the Lancashire Combined Fire Authorities and Chair of the Members Development and Training Working Group. We are currently undergoing assessment for the Charter Mark for Excellence and are hopeful that we will be amongst the recipients at a presentation in Manchester on November 17th 2006.
I am also on the Ingol and Tanterton Regeneration Management Board with a particular interest in the Environment Action Group.
As a member of Lancashire Locals I have been active in promoting a campaign to curb the menace of Mini Motos in conjuction with Trading Standards and other agencies. I have a particular interest in the Youth activities in the area with emphasis on the Youth Bus currently based in Cottam by the Community Centre every Wednesday evening.
Preston Soccer Development at the Cottam Sports Arena hold training every Saturday for 5 to 15 year olds At present I am hopeful of securing funding for football coaching for disabled youngsters. As a former Police Officer I support Cottam Pact which meets on the first Wednesday at 6.30pm at the Community Centre and have a close liasion with Lea and Cottam Parish Council.
