Local people in the Astley and Buckshaw areas of Lancashire are set to get a timely sporting boost with the news that they are to receive a cash injection of £5,000 from the Football Foundation towards developing new football teams.

Burnley Cyber Dance – a four-strong dance group from Burnley - won the first SHINE! talent search last night, with a routine blending street dance and hip hop.

The 5th presentation evening held on Friday 21st May saw a bumper audience of over 120 celebrate the awards presented to the clubs three teams. Family, relations and friends joined in the celebrations as the Under 9's, Under 12's and Under 14's teams received their awards.

YOUNG people in Chorley are celebrating the transformation of an eyesore into a great new games area.

Children and young people in Chorley are going back to the land. Muck 'n' Mirth sums up the spirit of a new project in which disabled children and young people are growing their own fruit and vegetables – and harvesting the rewards.

RMG have announced the official opening of the newly built community centre in Buckshaw Village to be Monday 7th June.

YOUNG people who feel passionately about local issues and can speak up on behalf of others have been elected in the UK Youth Parliament elections in Lancashire.

Young People in West Lancashire have been taking part in a Lancashire County Council funded performing arts programme run by the North West Charity Activate Arts.

Last week residents notified County Cllr Mark Perks and Chorley Council of Gypsy Roma Travellers setting up an encampment in Buckshaw Village.

County Cllr Mark haslaunched a campaign in Astley Village asking all its residents to object to the latest plans announced by O2 to site a 15m telecoms mast on Chancery Road near to homes on Studfold and Broadfields.

Enterprising people across Lancashire are being urged to take part in a challenge which could see them ultimately win £25,000 for their community project.

Communities of Astley Village, Euxton , Clayton le Woods and Whittle le Woods are set to benefit from Lancashire County Council's new administration which has approved an addition £ 351,000 for highway road repairs.

More than 150 young people, as well as friends, relatives and dignitaries, attended a Duke of Edinburgh Award celebration evening organised by Lancashire County Council's Young People's Service.

Salthill in Clitheroe has been named by Lancashire County Council as the latest site in the county to get a revamped outdoor play area.

A Chorley based organisation working with young people to prevent them becoming involved in gun, gang and knife crime has been awarded funding to support their vital work.

EUXTON Parish Council is to buy a new device to cut speeding traffic in the village with the help of funding from Lancashire County Council.

6/9/2009 -  Bus Shelter To Be Replaced 
After nearly two years a bus shelter outside a residential home in Astley Village is to be replaced.

Wheels Within Wheels is a charity that teaches mechanical know-how about everything associated with wheels – from building quad bikes to repairing motorcycles and bicycles.

There will be CV and interview technique workshops running to help with job applications and young people will be able to sign up to training and various schemes on the day. The events are at:

Lancashire County Council is set to a approve the allocation of funds from the Extended Schools Capital Allocation to support two primary schools projects in Euxton.

After much thought and with deep sadness Mark Perks has decided to stand down from Astley Village Parish Council.

During his recent visit to Birchwood, County Councillor Mark Perks, cabinet member for young people, met with young people and the staff who support them, hearing at first hand how the centre helps young people to develop the skills and confidence they need to live independently.

EUXTON Library on St Mary's Gate, Euxton is set to reopen following a major refurbishment to transform services available to library users and the local community.

The Ironman UK Triathlon will be passing through parts of Chorley North Division on Sunday 2nd August.

An event aimed at raising disability awareness is being held Friday 31st July and Saturday 1st August on Fazackerley Street and Market Street in Chorley town centre this week.

YOUNGSTERS in Chorley will be able to enjoy more opportunities to get up and play thanks to a brand new initiative from Chorley Council.

Thanks to last minute funding from a Parish Council a popular summer sports programme will continue again this year. Places are going fast.

The Arts Partnership has launched its summer holiday programme - with plans for a big Bank Holiday Festival in Astley Park on Monday 25th August.
All the activities are Free.

Visitors were treated to free children’s donkey rides, exclusive guided tours of Astley Hall’s Walled Garden which is not yet open to the public and a large collection of Open Gardens and front gardens.

Sunday, 29 June 2008, 1 pm to 5 pm. Programmes available at Astley Village Community Centre. Special guided tours of the restored Astley Hall Walled Garden at 2pm and 3pm.

Highway officials have carried out traffic surveys on the section of road leading to the Tesco roundabout. New remarking will now take place within the next 10 days.

This will be fourth year Astley Village Parish Council has organised this event but it could not take place without the enthusiasm of the owners of the gardens to be opened to the public on the day.

The man charged with the attempted murder of schoolgirl, Jessica Knight has appeared at Chorley Magistrates Court this morning and has been remanded in custody until his preliminary hearing set for the 4th February 2008 at Preston Crown Court.


A man from Adlington has been charged with the attempted murder of schoolgirl Jessica Knight.

Chorley police announced this morning that a 21 young man is helping with their inquiries over the Monday evenings knife attack in Astley Village.

Astley Village Cllr Mark Perks has spoken on behalf of the local community in Astley Village saying that their thoughts are with Jessica and her family and are praying for a full recovery.

Lancashire Police are appealing for information after a 14-year-old girl was subjected to a frenzied knife attack in Chorley.

It has been reported a young girl was stabbed in Astley Park at around 5.15pm Monday evening.

Four drugs warrants were executed at premises in Chorley on Thursday 17th January by Lancashire Police. Officers were involved in Operation Corduroy during the afternoon, which saw four warrants carried out under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
