Welcome from County Councillor Howard Henshaw

Last this year I was elected as a County Councillor for the Electoral Division of St.Annes North to serve the interests of all residents, regardless of political persuasion. This division covers the wards of Ashton,Kilnhouse and St.Leonard's,the last of which I have represented on Fylde Borough Council for the past 15 years.

I take an active interest in a number of important campaigns and agendas. It would not be appropriate for me to use this website to promote these campaigns although you can visit related external websites by selecting some of the links to be found on the left of this site.

Whilst I was born in Bolton,my formal education was at Arnold School in Blackpool and I am a retired Overseas Director of Standard Chartered Bank. After working for Barclays Bank in Preston, the Fylde coast and in Zambia over a period of 17 years, I was offerred a managerial position with The Chartered Bank in Singapore in 1974 and spent the next 20 years with The Chartered Bank which later merged with the African based Standard Bank to form Standard Chartered. I subsequently worked for SCB in Hong Kong,Malaysia,Dubai,Qatar,Uganda,Tanzania, Sierra Leone and again in Zambia, twenty years after my first tour of duty there with Barclays Bank DCO.

During my time working in Malaysia I was awarded the Ahli Darjah Kinabalu (ADK) by the Ruler of Sabah (formerly British North Borneo) for services to business interests in South East Asia ( I am told this decoration is the Malaysian equivalent to the British OBE ) .

In 1994 I was appointed a Consultant to The World Bank.

I have been a Member of Backpool Wyre and Fylde Athletic Club for over fifty years , it's President for the last 10 years and still compete in local road races most weekends.

After joining the Rotary movement in Singapore in 1981,I served as Treasurer of the club in Kota Kinabalu and was elected President of the Rotary Club of Lytham in 1999.Whilst working in the Emirates,I was elected Chairman of Dubai Round Table in 1980 and following my retirement I became Chairman of Blackpool 41 Club in 2000 and am currently the Foundation Chairman at Lytham Rotary.

My wife,Karen, is the President of Lytham St.Annes Festival for Performing Arts, Chairman of Arnold Ladies Luncheon Club and is a local Magistrate. She was formally an Executive Officer at the Lytham Land Registry and whilst living abroad, was a Presenter for Singapore Television.

Listed below are the LCC committees on which I presently serve:
