I have lived in Lancashire all my life. I am married to Irene and we have three grown up sons who all attended local schools in Aughton and Ormskirk.
I joined the Conservative party as a young man and was elected to the new West Lancashire District Council in 1976. Over the years I have served on all major committees and at present I am the Chairman of Planning, a job I find most interesting and stimulating.
In 1999 I retired from business in Ormskirk Town Centre which (together with a loyal staff) I ran for over 30 years.
I was elected to Lancashire County Council in 2000 just in time to serve on the old committee structure before the introduction of the Cabinet structure at County Hall. I am a member of the Shadow Cabinet and Internal Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Internal O&S Policy Development Committee. I am also a member of the Lancashire Local West Lancashire.
My other duties include: Chairman West Lancashire Police and Community Meeting, Member of Lancashire Combined Fire Authority and I am also a Governor of Ormskirk School
