AN historic Lancashire churchyard is to be revived thanks to plans drawn up by Lancashire County Council and the efforts of local people

DISABLED people currently living in residential care are to benefit from plans to develop eighteen new purpose-built “Extra Care” flats in the grounds of Lakeland View in Fleetwood.

Approval for the proposed changes to the County Council's contribtions to outside bodies, in order to re-prioritise and amend the County Council's Corporate Strategy 2005-5009.

The Secretary of State has expressed his satisfaction with the Minerals and Waste Development Scheme for 2005-2009, prepared jointly by the County Council, Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool Borough Councils (the Joint Authorities). Approval is now sought for the Scheme to become operative with effect from the 6 June 2006. The Scheme would then be published on a dedicated website for the Minerals and Waste Development Framework and copies would be made available for inspection at the main offices of the Joint Authorities. The County Council would also send a copy to each of the twelve District Councils in Lancashire within two weeks of the effective date.

All water companies are required by Government to produce a Drought Plan, setting out what they will do to maintain water supplies to customers in the event of a drought.

The Rossendale Multi-Agency Assessment Team (MAAT) is being celebrated on 30 March as a pilot for Lancashire under the government’s proposals for children and young people - Every Child Matters. Having become operational in May of last year, it is appropriate to celebrate the successes of the team before the start of the new financial year.

A HUGE step forward for local democracy is to be launched this month - a step that could see truly local “power-sharing” in Wyre district.

STUDENTS at Tor View Special School in Rossendale are celebrating becoming the first school in the county to achieve Lancashire Healthy Schools flagship status.
