Help Direct is a new service being developed for all adults in Lancashire. Help Direct will provide the practical support, guidance and information you need to get the most out of life.

You can access Help Direct across Lancashire. All areas will have a local base where you can walk in and talk to someone.

You will also be able to access Help Direct in all sorts of different local places. Look out for the Help Direct sign at: one stop shops, libraries, community centres, doctor’s surgeries, community group organisation offices, and lots of other places where you live.

Help Direct - Safe Trader Scheme in partnership with Lancashire County Council Trading Standards

Help Direct's Safe Trader Scheme is funded by Lancashire County Council and managed by Lancashire Trading Standards Service.  The service aims to help citizens of Lancashire find a reliable trader, as well as supporting local businesses.

All members of the Safe Trader Scheme have met minimum requirements, set out by the Trading Standards Service and have all committed to adhere to a Code of Practice.  Not only does this give you added peace of mind when choosing a trader, but the support of Lancashire Trading Standards Service also means that there's someone to help if things don't go to plan!  To find out more about the service, please click on the link below.

For the past 12 years I have been involved in local politics. I was first elected to Ribble Valley Borough Council in 1997, then in 1999 I was elected to Clitheroe Town Council in 1999.

Most recently, in June 2009 I was elected as a County Councillor for the electoral Division of Clitheroe

Since my election I have been appointed to various committees of the county council which you can see listed here.

When elected, like all my fellow county councilllors, it was to serve the interests of all residents of Clitheroe, regardless of political persuasion. I am, however, a member of the Liberal Democrats and take an active interest in a number of national and local campaigns. 	Lancashire County Council effects lots of things in Clitheroe, from the the Ribblesdale Children Centre to the Rail and Bus Interchange
	It also looks after the Library, and adult social care at Castleford and Mearley Fold. In addition to all his work at county hall, County Cllr. Allan Knox has also been appointed to Lancashire Fire Authority
