Affordable Housing
I was chairman of the Council's Housing Committee at the time when tennants voted to transfer all its housing to a new Housing Association - Sarsen. I am now on the board of the parent company Aster Group and Sarsen Housing Association. I have always had an interest in affordable housing.
The Link Scheme
In Ramsbury & Axford I helped to set up and now chair the Link Volunteer Scheme which puts volunteers in touch with those who need help; eg in transport or odd jobs around the house or garden, Thanks to our Co-ordinator Wendy Jordan the scheme has been running now for over four years and is very much appreciated by all those who use it. Donations from those who use the scheme help to cover our costs. Do ask Wendy (on 01672 520111) or me if you would like to know more. Or contact Community First (on 01380 722241) who manage the scheme overall. I would encourage all villages who have not yet done so to launch such a scheme.
