Welcome to my website

I am very pleased to welcome you to my website.

I am Councillor Ray Parsons  and represent the Devizes South ward both at Kennet and Devizes Town Council , l  aim to serve the interests of all residents, regardless of political persuasion.

I am, however, a member of the Conservative Party and take an active interest in a number of national and local campaigns. It would not be appropriate for me to use this website to promote these campaigns though you can visit related external websites by selecting some of the links to be found on this site.

If you wish to get in touch with me, you can send me an email by selecting “Contact Me” from the menu on the left hand side of the screen or by writing to me at 88a Hillworth Road Devizes SN10 5HD  or ringing me on 01380 739 332 or Mobile No. 07902761579.

I would be delighted to hear your suggestions on how I could improve the site in order that it reflects what matters to you.

My Politics

l am a Conservative, but will support any group of people trying to improve our town of Devizes.

Town Centre Development

Although l believe the option of one large store would have been the right one, you can always divide a building into smaller units if the need arises, it dose not work the other way round, we MUST retain the Maximum parking places possible.

At Kennet District Council

The Leader has appointed me to the chair of Human Resources.  This has wide implications as the Staff at Kennet are our major asset and will need all the encouragement possible towards securing them an excellent future in the new Wiltshire Council.  We have trained our staff well at Kennet, job prospects should be good.

I am still a member of the Regulatory Committee, and the Overview and Scrutiny Committee here at Kennet.

Devizes

We have many important issues facing us - Housing, Traffic, Parking, Recycling, Environmental - all need consultation and direction.

Housing

How to balance the needs of Young people and the sustainability of the town.  I have supported good planning applications e.g. Le Marchant, and challenged Kaverna, Spittlecroft and other sites, only to find Government Inspectors approve them.

Traffic

Our traffic problems will, I fear, be with us for many years to come.  The latest traffic model paid for by Kennet has shown us a bleak but challenging way forward.  In and around Devizes has become very congested at times.  A computerised traffic light system seems to be a possible answer, but we need this system now.

Parking

Some good news - we are expecting an extra 31 spaces at the Northgate site in the near future - residential parking may resolve some of the issues.

Recycling

As a Council, we have achived a recycling rate at the top of the Five Councils and in excess of 40% and still rising.  Congratulations to you, the ratepayers and staff, for this continuing support in keeping our targets on course.
