I hope you will find this new website useful and interesting.  It should bring you into closer contact with what is going on at Kennet as well as keeping you in touch with my own activities on your behalf. 

I have been your representative since 1985 and have served on most of the major Committees.  In May 2003-May 2004 I had the honour of representing the Council as your Chairman.  A challenging, busy but most enjoyable 12 months.

Currently I serve on Community Development Executive, the Human Resources Committees, and Licensing.

But you will be aware that any Committee that is discussing things about or of interest to the Shalbourne Ward has to listen to my opinions on any matters that will affect your lives.  Attending any such Committee entitles me to give the Members of that Committee my own views on the Agenda, but does not entitle me to vote.

New Unitary Authority for the County

Whilst negotiations are still taking place it would seem to be almost certain that Kennet will be part of the Unitary Authority headed by the current County Council, to be known as Wiltshire Council.  In this event, I feel it is the duty of all the current Kennet District Councillors to pursue every avenue to ensure that the inhabitants of Kennet get the best possible deal out of the new authority.  For further information, please follow the link to Wiltshire County Council's web page entitled Towards One Council.
