About Jonathon Seed
- a well known Wiltshire character.
I am a graduate who served as an officer in the Royal Artillery at home and abroad for twenty three years. I retired from the Army in 1999 and immediately went into business as General Manager of a marketing company operating from Wiltshire, where I also acted as sales manager. After two years I took over a busy local holiday business which I now run in partnership with my wife. I understand both business and its involvement with the wider community. This experience has made me acutely aware of the pressures put on local businesses and local people by local government.
I have lived in Wiltshire for the past twenty years, the early part of which was in Urchfont. I now live with my family on our business premises just outside Devizes. I am married with one nine year old daughter. I am heavily involved in the local rural community and have been Master of a local Hunt for the past fifteen years. During this time I have had to give careful leadership into the modern era and will do so in any variety of challenging community and Council projects. I have been heavily involved in local political and community work over the past ten years and have a great deal of experience in these spheres to offer local people. I am actively supported in my business, political and country sports activities by my family. I stand for traditional rural values but I am supportive of positive changes and developments to the advantage of the community as a whole.
I understand Wiltshire rural life, I am a successful local businessman and I stand for family values. I am not a supporter of political correctness but I am a political and people person – I mix with people from all walks of life and I understand people.
About Jonathon Seed
My Politics -2007 District Council Election
ELECTORAL ADDRESS
I am a candidate who is heavily involved in local business and rural issues. I understand the competing demands of the services given by Kennet District Council and the requirements of those electors who pay for them. I believe that I can balance the representation of those diverse pressures for the people of Urchfont, Easterton and Stert and hope to do so on your behalf.
I have lived locally for the past twenty years, for a part of which I lived in Urchfont. This was at a time when the village had a bakery, a butchers shop, a separate post office, two pubs and a village stores. Times change and the new arrangements to serve the people of Urchfont have changed also. I commit myself as a person to support any positive change which has advantages for the local community but also seek to preserve all that is best about our traditional local community.
I support local businesses be they agricultural or light industry together with the employment and support that they give to our community. I am deeply committed to the environment and in addition to involvement in country sports both myself and my family are members of several wildlife organisations. I feel strongly that the youth of today deserves our support and this includes the provision of recreational facilities for them as well as the more senior members of the community.
I believe that we should progress the development of the local community with caution. I only am in favour of carefully considered development of the local area provided that this has clear advantages to the community as a whole. I will fight to improve road safety, to create better roads and to improve parking facilities. I also support the expansion of public transport in the area.
I offer myself as a caring voice in the Council Chamber on behalf of Urchfont, Easterton and Stert and I pledge myself to take a deep interest in the affairs of the Ward. Finally, I feel privileged to take over as candidate from my friend Colin Stone, who has proposed me in this election.
