Following my early career as a qualified primary school teacher, I had a successful career in business. This started in 1963 when I joined the family dairy business, later as a director and subsequently as a director in a bakery and catering business, then in a property leasing company.
My contribution to public service started in 1987 when I was elected as a member of Kennet District and Bromham Parish Councils. I have served as both Deputy Leader and Chairman of the District Council and Chairman of the Housing Committee. I am a Board Member of Ridgeway Housing Association, a Member of Sarsen Housing Association Audit Committee, a Member of Bromham Parish Council, Chairman of Rowde Parish Council and am Kennet's Housing Champion. I am a Member of the Supporting People Board.
I am Chairman of the Bromham Twinning Association (Bromham is twinned with Avoca, Ireland and Ingrandes-sur-Loire, France), a Member of Devizes Twinning Association and Tornio Twinning Association (Finland).
St. Nicholas Church, Bromham and St. Matthews Church, Rowde are both important to me and I enjoy joining both congregations.
I am a mother of 3 children and grandmother of 6 and an owner of an affectionate black Labrador dog. I enjoy reading, music, visiting my house in Provence and travelling to family and friends in Australia, Canada and the USA.
