Welcome to my personal councillor website. I am one of two Sinn Féin councillors for the electoral ward of Erne West - part of Fermanagh District Council. That means that I carry responsibility for the large geographical area including the area West of Lough Erne south of the A4/N16. That includes the towns and villages of Belcoo, Letterbreen, Bellanaleck, Florencecourt, Kinawley, Derrylin and Teemore.
I will be using this site to keep you informed about my work, and to provide you with information about developments at Fermanagh District Council.
My name is pronounced Donal O'Coffey.
I am committed to representing everyone equally to the best of my ability irrespective of whatever religion, political background or race you are.
This site cannot be used for party political issues, however, in the left toolbar there is a 'Interesting Links' section, which carries links to sites that I think are of worth although I cannot speak for everything that they carry.
My political priorities are to increase democratic accountability and transparency in local government, to accelerate the All-Ireland agenda and to enable civic empowerment and meaningful participation in decision-making processes.
I believe that internet communication to constituents is important in letting them know what local councillors are actually doing.
I hope that you will feel free to use the ‘Contact Me’ button in the toolbar on the left of this site to let me know your views on anything you think I might be able to help you with. I would also welcome anyone who is visiting who disagrees with me politically as at the end of the day we can all get things wrong at times and I welcome constructive criticism.
In the future, I hope to develop this site, including more polls and perhaps an interactive section where you can post comments or questions.
I’d also be interested to hear how you’d like me to use this website – and other internet tools to improve the way that important local issues are communicated to you. I have opened a poll as a means of offering you the opportunity to have an input on an issue of concern to you. If you want me to have a poll on something else, please contact me and let me know.
