What a great evening of the best military band music you could ever hear, Solo's,Overtures, Selections, Pipe features, Irish reels, and Dance sounded out great tunes like Regimental marches, Going Home, The Watermill, Opheus in the Underworld, Green Glens of Antrim, Tin Pan Ally, Toccata in SD minor, 79th Farewell to Gibralter, a Hauntingly moving piece; The Last of the Great Whales, Highland Cathedral finishing with Killaloe with a second uncore, To Captain Mike Smith who conducted so wonderfully and Band Master Major Mayes and to the bands a huge thank you.

I presented a lovely Tyrone bowl on a plinth to celebrate 100 years of TA/ RIR to Col Kevin Husler, it was much appriciated. Happy Birthday guys; you do us proud.

The money raised for the evening was £1750 with some more to come, this all goes to the Knock Eden Fold Sensory Garden Project, If there is anyone who wants to give a donation please get in touch, it will take some £40,000 to build; Thank you one and all for coming

The Mayors Conferance went very well; the key note speaker, Mr Will McKee spoke on the quilties of leaders, the type of leader, mistakes that can be made, reaction to success, learning from pain, he also spoke very honestly of his own experiance, the downs, pain and success.

This Conferance was filmed and we intend now to use the feedback to put on our website in the next three weeks the information gathered; it has been a great oppertunity to meet local business people.

The evening dinner had a gathering of some forty top employers within the Craigavon area, the Mayors Business Dinner was a great evening where our Economic Developement team had marvellous feedback from each of the tables where they discussed our future links and how we could help as a Council..

The intention of Council is to make sure this is not a one off event but through Business forum groups, continue to develope contact and see where it is Council can assist.

Mayor Hosts Musical Evening for Charity. 28/04/2008

The Mayor of Craigavon, Councillor Robert Smith is hosting a musical evening with all proceeds for Knock Eden Fold Sensory Garden on the Gilford Road.

The event on Saturday 31st May at Craigavon Civic & Conference Centre will see the Band of the Royal Irish Regiment TA and the pipes and drums of the 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment providing an evening of entertainment including both military and modern music.

“This be a great night and a great spectacle, I'm always surprised at concerts like this in that you can not only hear the music, but actually feel it. I hope that as many people come along so that we can raise as much money as possible for the Knock Eden Fold Sensory Garden”.

The sensory garden project at Knock Eden will cost anything up to £40,000 and the charity Friends of the Knock Eden Fold are actively fundraising for this much needed addition.
