Councillor Oliver Molloy


Profile

Councillor Oliver Molloy was first elected to the Drum Manor area of Cookstown District Council in 2001 and re-elected in 2005.

Having graduated with a law degree Oliver worked for a period of time in Belfast before joining the local constituency office of Mid Ulster MP, Martin Mc Guinness. He has extensive experience in representing local constituents on a range of issues and has a clear insight into everyday issues affecting local people. He is now the manager of a local cancer charity in Dungannon.

During his time on Cookstown Council, Oliver has served on a number of committees and outside bodies. He currently sits on the following:

Development Committee, Policy Resources and Services, Sports and Leisure, Members Services, Tourism and the DPP.

Oliver also represents Cookstown Council on:

  • Cookstown Local Strategy Partnership;
  • Sperrins Tourism
  • Peace III
  • Cookstown CAB

During 2007-08 Oliver was Vice Chairperson of Cookstown District Council having also previously chaired the Development and P. R & S committees.

In 2001 Oliver was appointed to the Fire Authority board by the Health Minister, Bairbre De Brún MLA. He served on the Fire Authority for five years.

In terms of party politics Oliver is just as experienced. Having been involved in elections since an early age the interest was developed through working with Sinn Féin in the East Tyrone area. Oliver has been Chairperson of the local Comhairle Ceantair, represented the area at Cuige Uladh level.

Oliver has also been part of a number of party working groups and was directly involved in contributing to the party position on the Criminal Justice Review Group and the Review of Public Administration.
