Personal Snapshot

I am married with two sons and lived in Coleraine since 1971. During my working life with the Health Service I spent 36 years in the Ambulance Service and held middle, senior and assistant director level posts.  I hold an HNC in Business & Finance and an MSc in Social Policy & Public Administration from the University of Ulster.  I have always loved my job serving the public and count it a privilege to be elected to represent them. This is my third term of four years as councillor during which time I have worked on all core committees and held several positions of responsibility such as;

  • Chair of the major Policy & Development committee (former)
  • North Eastern Education Board (former)
  • West Bann community management committee (former)
  • Coleraine Borough Strategic Partnership delivering EC funding.(current)
  • Coleraine Community Safety Partnership dealing with fear of crime (current)
  • NW200 Motorcycle Committee (current)
  • Council's DOE Planning sub Committee (current)
  • Council's equality committee (current)
  • Chair of the Northern Environmental Group representing ten councils (current)
  • Coleraine College Board of Governors (current)
  • Killowen Primary School Board of Governors (current)
  • Culcrow Primary School Board of Governors (current)

I financially subscribe each month to Council's Zomba Action as well as giving to various charities. I always endeavour to follow a case as far as I can take it within reasonable boundaries and will continue to do so.
