Welcome to my website. Let me introduce myself. I served as a Borough Councillor from 1992 to 1999. I have represented Heddon on the Wall on the Borough Council from 2003 up to the present day. I am a member of the Conservative Party but I do try to represent all of the residents of Heddon and do my best to further their interests.
I am an arable farmer and I live on the farm with my wife, Val. I serve on several agricultural organisations. I am a Director of GrainCo and Tees Valley Biofuels as well as being Vice Chairman of the Tynegrain cooperative.
Over the years I have held various positions of responsibility on the Borough Council. I was Chairman of Housing and Environmental Health for four years. I have been Chairman of a Scrutiny Committee and I am Leader of the Conservative Group. I am Chairman of the Improvement Board and, as such, I am leading the Council's drive for improvement in all of its services. I chair our Efficiency Working Group. In May 2005 I was appointed Deputy Leader of the Council and in May 2006 I became Leader of the Council. In this role I represent the Council on regional bodies such as the Association of North East Councils, on which I am an Executive Member. I am Vice Chairman of our Local Strategic Partnership and a Board Member of the Northumberland Strategic Partnership. Also I am a Member of the Regeneration and Transport Board of the national Local Government Association and I have been appointed as a Board Member of One NorthEast.
I keep in close contact with Heddon Parish Council. But I will be happy to help with any concerns that you may have. My telephone number is 01830 530218.
I look forward to your comments with interest.
