Welcome to my website

Hi there,

Welcome to my website. Now that you have found it, I hope that you will add it to your list of “favourites”.

My name is Edward Peter Charleton, but I prefer to be addressed as Peter, and I have lived in the beautiful Northumbrian village of Ponteland virtually all my life.

I was re-elected in 2007, with an increased majority as one of the councillors for Ponteland North Ward on Castle Morpeth Borough Council, and as a councillor on Ponteland Parish Council, having already represented the residents of the area for the past twelve years, and look forward to continuing my service to local residents. The majority of local residents know that if they do have a problem I will do my very best to help them find a solution.

In 2005, I was also elected as the County Councillor for Ponteland North Division.

Ponteland North Division covers seven different Parishes including some of the most scenic areas of Northumberland. It stretches from Cambo in the North, to Ponteland in the South, and from Capheaton in the West almost to Mitford in the East . It also includes the Parishes of Belsay, Hartburn, Meldon, Netherwitton, and Wallington.

The size of the division makes communication with residents extremely difficult even though I do try to keep them informed of what is going on through regular editions of Focus.

Unfortunately, at the recent Unitary elections I lost the seat, but, having made close contact with many residents, I would be more than happy to help them or anyone else with any queries or concerns they may have.

I am easily contacted, either through the Contact Me section to the left of this page, or by ringing 01661 823503 and am more than willing to help anyone at anytime. Owing to the  lack of public transport in the area I cover, I am more than happy to make home visits.

I try to use my web-pages to keep residents aware of what is going on throughout the local area, so if you, or your organisation are holding an event, please let me know, and I will endeavour to “post” the event in my web-pages.

I am still fairly new to running a web-site, so if anyone reading this has any suggestions as to how I could improve this site, please let me know.

Four years ago I could not have even switched a computer on, yet three years ago, in a draft report from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, my web-site was named as one of the five most informative Councillor Information sites in the country. That accolade was largely due to local residents sending me information, so if you are looking for new members for your organisation, or arranging an event, do let me know!

I look forward to hearing your views on ways that I could either improve my website, and things I may have overlooked.

It is only by hearing your views that I can hope to improve its usefulness to the wider community.

I hope to hear from you soon.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR VIEWS ON ANY MATTER, AND IF YOU HAVE A QUERY ABOUT ANYTHING, PLEASE USE THE "CONTACT ME" SECTION TO THE LEFT OF THIS PAGE.

My email address is :- peter.charleton@castlemorpeth.gov.uk

Please feel free to contact me at any time with any query or complaint that you may have.

You may find it easier to use the "CONTACT ME" facility to the left of this page.
