Welcome to my website

Welcome to my web site. Let me introduce myself. Though my name is Francis, I am called Frank by everyone. I  have represented the West Ward of Ponteland as a Borough Councillor since 1987 and as a Parish Councillor since 1983. However I did not seek re election to the Parish Council at the May 2007 election but was returned as a Borough Councillor.

I am a member of the Conservative Party but try to represent all the residents in the Ward and do my best to further their interests.

I was fortunate in spending much of my teaching career at Kirkley Hall, teaching practical agriculture, horticulture and forestry. My wife, Judith , our 3 children and I lived at Medburn. After 30 years living there Judith  and I moved to Twizell, Ponteland.

As an experienced Councillor I have served on Commitees involved with most apsects of the Borough's work. These have included housing, environmental health, recreation, planning, finance, and regeration. I have also been the Chairman of Planning and  was Mayor of the Borough in the year 2000.

Since the Council re-organised it's arrangements with a small Executive I have been happy to be a "back bencher". However, I am Chairman of the Development Control Committee, a quasi judicial, apolitical committee.

I represent the Borough Council on the the County Councils Planning Committee but unfortunately I am not allowed to vote, I  am a member of the Licensing Committee, a Scrutiny Committee, the Local Development Framework and various working groups.

I have been a member of the Ponteland Community Partnership since it was formed and am  on its  executive. I serve on its "regeneration" working group.

I hold regular surgeries in Merton Hall with other Conservative Councillors on the first Saturday of each month between 10.00 am and 11.00 am. Do call in and see us.

I can be contacted on email at frank.harrington@castlemorpeth.gov.uk or by telephone on 01670 775433 at any reasonable hour. Do not hestitate to contact me if you have a problem.
