I am a member of Cresswell Parish Council which meets bi monthly at Cresswell Village Hall. ( Vice Chairman 1999 - 2003 ) Because I am a member of this council I have a vote in relation to many of this council's affairs.
I am not a member of Ellington and Linton Parish Council or Lynemouth Parish Council but I would attend Ellington and Linton Parish Council and Lynemouth Parish Council's meetings by invitation when invited to do so. These council's also meet bi monthly. Councillor Jim Wright and myself work hand in hand in our efforts to service all parish councils within Lynemouth and Ellington ward as best we can.
I take every care not to confuse Parish Council business with Borough Council business but I often find that these items are inextricably linked. I am very keen to listen to what all of the parish councils say in relation to any planning matters within the ward and I do take their views on board along with the views of others in coming to my own conclusions in planning matters.
I would encourage any individual who resides in a community to take an interest in Parish Council business. Parish Councillors provide a very valuable service to their community which is often overlooked. I wish that more young folk would take an interest in serving as a Parish Councillor as all Parish Council's need a good cross section of their local community to help represent their area.
