The recent proposed changes to our local government in Northumberland is causing quite a few local residents to be justly concerned that this whole process is being rushed through at such a pace that things are bound to be over looked and costly mistakes may be made.  I share those concerns.  I have in several public statements asked the Prime Minister to apply the brakes on these proposals so that well thought out plans may be given more time to come through. We will have to wait to see if this plea is noticed at 10 Downing Street !

 

I am personally very sad that Castle Morpeth Borough Council will cease to exsist in 2009 as I happen to think that all of it's councillors regardless of their own political persuasion are each working flat out to help to deliver real changes for our communities and in doing so remarkable changes have taken place in recent months and years. My heart goes out to our dedicated staff who may feel very depressed as they see their jobs under potential threat....   Click onto my news

Plans to double size of Northumberland hamlet rejected
Plans for a housing development which would have doubled the size of a Northumberland hamlet have been rejected by a Government planning inspector.
