Welcome to my personal councillor website. I am one of two Progressive Unionist Party councillors on Belfast City Council. I represent the electoral ward of Pottinger which includes the Ravenhill, Woodstock, Short Strand, Newtownards Road, Holywood Arches and Bloomfield areas of East Belfast.
I was co-opted onto the Council in 2007 following the untimely death of my colleague and friend David Ervine.
My interests include Education and Young People, Community Safety and Restorative Justice, and Conflict Transformation. As a local GP I have a particular interest in health related issues and chair the Health Strategy Group in the East Belfast Partnership.
I will be using this site to keep you informed about my work, and to provide you with information about developments at Belfast City Council.
This website has been provided to help me in my work as a councillor – to help me communicate with all residents of Belfast City Council, regardless of their political persuasion. As this website has been established with funding from the e-Government Fund programme, it is not appropriate for me to use it for the purposes of political campaigning.
However, there is a ‘My Politics’ link in the toolbar on the left-hand side of this website, and I may use that to link to political sites that I think are of interest.
Please feel free to use the ‘Contact Me’ button in the toolbar on the left of this site to let me know your views on any important issues that affect you.
With best wishes
Councillor John Kyle
