OOOPPPSSS!!!!
Apparentley the information I have been putting here should be on the News page, so please look there for it in future....I have added a lot of information today.
Thank you to all of those who turned up to see me on Saturday 8th September...it was a relief that people came.
It was suggested that it would have been good to have the surgery as part of a coffee morning, so I am investigating this possibility.
I was concerned that though my site has had a large number of hits, I have had no e-mail messages, I discovered the reason why when a friend tried to e-mail me and found that I am wrongly down as Morpeth. I have taken steps to correct this error so hope you will not be prevented from contacting me on this website any longer.
4th September 2007.
Back from my few days away in sunny Scotland....I hope you all had a good summer.
Just to remind you that I will be at the Memorial Hall Whittingham on Saturday 8th September, from 10.30am until 11.30am...please come and join me for a coffee/tea and biscuits!
Does anyone have suggestions for a meeting place in other parts of the ward?
I expect you will have heard that we are mounting a legal challenge in respect of the decision to impose a unitary authority on us. I hope that the democratic process will prevail and that the strong will of the people will be properly considered.
20th August 2007.
I was very happy that the Whittingham show was able to go ahead and together with my mother and 2 grandchildren enjoyed what were able to see...the weather could have been kinder to us, but at least we went ahead....well done to all, it must be hard work raising all the money needed to put on such a splendid show. My grandchildren were very disappointed not to have won one of the splendid cakes in the raffle, they were most convinced that they would win!!
I am going to be on leave for a few days....21st August to 28th August, we are going camping on the Mull of Kintyre, having been there at least once a year for about 20 years we love it and are looking forward to the break...hope the weather is kind to us. If you have anything you need me for , please leave a message either on this site or my telephone.

A special meeting of the Council was held last night to discuss the implications of the announcement that we are to have a Single Council imposed upon us.
Our Chief Executive together with his counterparts across the County will be taking legal advice about whether we can make a challenge to this undemocratic decision. The anger felt by all present was strong and the desire not to be pushed into a situation we all voted against was voiced most succinctly by Councillor Bolam and fully supported by all present.
We unanimously voted to work together to ensure that , in event of the possibility of appealling the decision not being viable, we will fight for the best possible outcome for the people and officers of Alnwick District.
Watch this space for developments.
Welcome Message
Hello everybody in the Whittingham ward....I am sorry to have been so long getting onto the website, and I hope this has not caused you any inconvenience.
I was elected to Alnwick district Council in May 2007 as the conservative representative for our ward. I was surprised at how large an area is covered by our ward .
I intend to hold regular surgeries in Whittingham Memorial Hall and have posted the dates in the Valley News magazine . For those of you who would like me to come to a venue nearer to you I would appreciate suggestions of where this might be.
I look forward to serving you all as your councillor and hope that you will feel able to contact me at any time.

Since I last wrote parish councils have received a document entitled "Unitary authority electoral review of Northumberland. Submission by NCC"
The introductory paragraph informs us "In making its case the council understands that any changes will not take place until the next scheduled local elections in 2013 and until that time it will operate with 67 members".
This fill me with horror....it means that for 5 years we in the rural districts will be grossly under-represented. Instead of the current 5 representatives for our area we will have just 1.
I have made my views known to the parish council and hope that someone will listen to us.

Nearly the end of July and I have nothing much to tell you about the new authority! Well actually I am still in the dark.I am going to attend the workshop on the electoral review tomorrow...29th July. I think it is most important that we in the rural North are not forgotten about. From April 1st next year we are to be represented by 1 councillor where we have currently 5 . This is clearly not good enough to ensure that we get our fair share of services etc.and I intend to make this clear.
We have at last had some success in having the promised fencing in Alnside erected.
I have no news about the phone box at Callaly.
I hope you all have a good Summer break, and that the weather keeps fair.
