Welcome to my website, I am one of two elected Lesbury Ward members of Alnwick District Council, serving as a representative for all residents of our community, regardless of political persuasion. I have served on this Council for just over two years now and feel as though I am just beggining to understand the complexities of local government in this day and age. Of course I very much appreciate the help and encouragement of my colleagues, especially Hugh Philipson the other councillor for Lesbury Ward.
Following the local government elections in May of this year, I was fortunate enough to be elected Leader of the Council and Chair of the Policy Executive Committee. This gives me many added responsibilities but also opportunities to influence the general direction of the Council.
As a long standing Liberal Democrat and I have worked with Lib Dem Councillors and local MP Alan Beith on many campaigns in the past. My wife Jenny and I have two grown up children, David is an IT specialist and used to work at Allerburn House a number of years ago and Julie is a French/German teacher in Essex. The family have lived in Lesbury for the last 29 years and before that at Cramlington. Although we originate from Yorkshire we feel our natural home is now in the North East.
My industrial background and is in engineering, I am a retired Chartered Electrical Engineer with many years experience in the Electricity Supply Industry, working at Blyth Power Station in various management capacities.
