Hello

A big welcome my web site - which is the first I have made - so I will be updating it as often as I can. I was elected at the recent elections in May and have so far attended and spoke at my first Council Meeting in Alnwick and have been appointed to the Executive Policy Committee as Vice Chair and to the Operations Policy committee.  On these committees we will be looking at the council policies and formulating strategies to take the Council forward until, because of recent government decisions for a unitary authority, we move onto new horizons.  However we need to keep your interests at the centre of what we do and ensure that any transition in the future will be as seamless as possible.  Please be in touch with me if you have problems through the "contact me" button on this web-site.

I have also been appointed to Groundwork Northumberland as a board member, which as an ecologist, is of real importance to me.  This organisation brings together environmental and community issues.  As a past regional chairman of a wild life trust, it is good to make acquaintance with NE Regional members and to discuss with them issues surrounding community needs to climate change.

I am a recent returnee to the Alnwick District having been in exile in the South East where I served for eight years on Surrey County Council (representing Guildford North - surprisingly an area within the bottom 14th percentile of social deprivation nationally)

As an educationalist my main interest on the council was in education policy and I worked to help in the regeneration of local schools an experience I would hope to help in my work for Alnwick District Council and beyond. I still act as an international consultant and communicator in education development in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Russia and Africa.

My other interests include environmental issues (I am a keen gardener, orchid grower and bee-keeper).  I try to play golf.

I will develop this site over the coming weeks and hope you will visit again.
