Lifeboat Cheque Presentation

In February this year, while Deputy Mayor, I was invited to the Royal Standard Public House in the Old Town, to meet the Landlord and Regulars who raised the fantastic sum of £1,330 in aid of Hastings lifeboat and present the cheque to the Coxswain of Hastings Lifeboat, Martyn Phillips. The walkers consisted of regulars, Mike Hughes, Andy Woodcock, Cllr Richard Vallery, Cllr Michael Lambrechs and family, and of course the well known landlord, George Payne. The footsore group walked all the way from Eastbourne lifeboat station to Hastings lifeboat station, a distance of 17 miles, in a record 5 hours and17 mins.

Marina Pavilion Development

The redevelopment of this building is very important to the economic well being of St Leonards and the town in general. I am fully supportive of this development and am given regular updates on the progress of these works. Hopefully, the building will reopen in time for the next summer season.
