Welcome to my website

West St. Leonards

I am the Borough Councillor for West St. Leonards ward in Hastings and I was elected in May 2002 and re-elected in May 2004.

You can contact me by telephoning 01424 781023, emailing me at cllr.matthew.beaver@hastings.gov.uk or by writing to me care of the Town Hall.

I was born in Auckland, New Zealand and moved to Hastings with my family in 1977. I have lived here ever since with the exception of three years when I studied in Cambridge and gained a BA (Hons) Business Studies, Maths and Statistics. I trained to be an accountant for two years but felt I wanted more interaction with the public so moved into retail and have been there ever since.

My aim for West St. Leonards is to have the area at the forefront of development for this town and for it not to be forgotten. There are many exciting things going on in the area - the Link Road and the development of the Bathing Pool site and I want to hear all residents views on these issues as well as any others residents have concerns over.

Hastings and St Leonards is a vibrant and exhilarating town. Our heritage is our greatest asset and we must all cherish this. As the senior Cinque Port we have a duty to set a high example and take a lead in the promotion of 1066 country.

Above all we should be proud of our history.
