Hi, my name is Councillor Alan Roberts, welcome to my web pages.
This site will tell you a little bit about me, what I do on the Council and what is happening in Hastings & St. Leonards and in Wishing Tree Ward (in text & pics).
Using the 'contact me' link below you can e-mail me direct or you can contact me on Hastings (01424) 447946 (Voice, Fax & Text) or Mobile: (07812) 542162
or if you prefer you can contact Councillor Phil Scott (also a Borough Councillor for Wishing Tree Ward and the County Councillor for Hollington & Wishing Tree Wards) on Hastings (01424) 781085 or e-mail: cllr.phil.scott@eastsussex.gov.uk
A bit about me: I was born on the 26th May 1955 and moved to the area (Bexhill) when I was 5 years old, I have lived in Hastings & St. Leonards for over 40 years.
Since November 2005 I have worked as a Charge Hand, Craftsman Gardener for Quadron Services Limited (under contract to the Council)(transfered under TUPE), before that I worked for Onyx (Veolia) (another contractor for the Council)(again, transfered under TUPE) in the same post and before that, again in the same post, I worked directly for the Council (that was nearly 30 years ago!!!).
Until recently, I was the Branch Secretary for Hastings & East Sussex Branch of the GMB Trade Union and I am still very active as a Conveynor.
In the past, I have been a Councillor for Central St. Leonards and then Silverhill and now I am a Councillor for Wishing Tree Ward.
I sit on the Council's Planning & Licensing Committees, as well as the Domestic Violence Forum, Working Arrangements Group (WAG), Hastings Overseas Students Advisory Council (HOSAC), The North St. Leonards Area Management Board (AMB) and various other Committees.
I am also the Vice Chair of Governors and Chair of the Finance, Property & Personnel Committee at Churchwood Community Primary School, Churchwood Drive, St. Leonards. I also a member of various other school committees such as the Children's Centre Committee.
I am a member of the Four Courts Community Centre Management Committee.
In my own right (not as a Councillor) I am a member of the Management Board of Hastings Community Housing Association (HCHA).
I am a social member of two local clubs - The Hastings & St. Leonards Angling Association and the Silverhill Club.
I believe in Hastings & St. Leonards and the residents and feel that by working together we can go forward and make this town even better.
Four Courts Residents Association Disbands
Unfortunately, the Four Courts Residents Association has had to disband owing to the lack of interest from Residents.
The Community Centre is still going to host events and will continue to be managed by a 'management committee' made up of residents of the area.
Hopefully the Association will take off once again. If you wish to become part of a new Residents Association and help influence decisions that affect the area, please contact me so I can put you in touch with other like minded people.
Remember: RAs can really make a difference
